Overall, the desk makes a very good and professional impression and fits perfectly into my studio from a visual standpoint. Delivery was made by freight carrier on a pallet in three large boxes. The packaging was very good, and each box has carrying straps on both ends. Due to the total weight of more than 100 kg, however, you should definitely plan on having two people available to move the packages.
Assembly went smoothly on my own for the first hour. Once the larger parts have to be screwed together, however, a second person is practically essential. The instructions are generally easy to follow, and once fully assembled, the desk feels stable and very professional.
I particularly like the large work surface, the integrated rack sections, and the overall well-thought-out, studio-focused design. Visually, the desk looks significantly more refined and professional than a standard desk and really makes an impact in my studio.
However, the included monitor pads are not described in any detail in the product description, either in terms of their dimensions or how they are mounted. It is therefore not explained whether they are permanently integrated into the desk, attached to it in some way, or simply placed on top. In fact, they are loose pads that simply rest on the surface. In my opinion, this should be stated clearly in the product description.
One genuine criticism concerns the rack rails in all three rack sections. On my desk, they were all positioned slightly too high from the factory. With my 1U microphone preamp, around 2–3 mm of clearance was missing. As a result, the upper threaded holes in the rack rails sat so high that they were partially obscured by the mounting holes in the preamp’s rack ears, making it impossible to insert the upper rack screws. At the same time, the underside of the desktop prevented the unit from being moved any further upward.
In another rack section, a 3U rack blanking panel fitted so tightly at the top that it could only be mounted with considerable pressure. At the same time, there was still a small gap at the bottom of the rack sections. Since the mounting positions of the rails are predetermined by factory-installed threaded inserts in the wood panels, their position could not be corrected without modification.
I therefore slightly elongated the mounting holes in the metal brackets of the rack rails to create small slots. This allowed the rails to be lowered by a few millimetres, after which my 1U unit could be mounted using all of its rack screws. On a studio desk in this price range, I would have expected either the mounting points to be positioned correctly from the factory or slotted mounting holes to be provided from the outset, allowing small manufacturing and equipment tolerances to be compensated for.
I have mixed feelings about the price. Visually, the desk looks very high-end and expensive. In terms of materials, however, it is made primarily from coated particleboard. At a purchase price of more than two thousand euros, I would have expected higher-quality or more substantial materials. To be fair, though, there are only a few significantly cheaper alternatives in this size category that offer integrated rack sections and this kind of specialised studio design.
Overall, I can recommend this desk and, despite the high price, I am satisfied with it. The points mentioned above are what prevent me from giving it a full five-star rating.
Thank you Benjamin for your feedback which is very understandable and we will forward it to our production team! We hope you'll still enjoy the desk and you will spend many creative hours in front of it! Best regards, Gilles
Extremely stable with heavy gear.
I would like to give a special shout-out to @zaorfurniture! Amazing customer service with quality products and great packaging. It only took a week to get the desk from Romania to America. This is their Miza X2 Flex desk in Wengé Grey color way.
