As one of the most internationally renowned educational institutes for audio engineering and media production, the Abbey Road Institute relies on studio furniture from Zaor for its parent school in London. Città di Castello, Italy, 3rd November 2021 – The renowned Abbey Road Institute relies on customised studio furniture from Zaor to equip it’s thoroughly modernised and expanded headquarter school in London. The audio education institution and the furniture specialist already have a history of collaboration: Zaor also equipped the schools in Melbourne, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt and recently Miami with high-quality furniture.
An educational institute with great tradition
When asked about the most famous recording studios in the world, the name Abbey Road Studios usually comes up very quickly. The production facility was founded in 1931 as the world’s first recording studio and since then has offered countless artists from the Beatles to Pink Floyd the ideal production environment. In order to adequately support the next generation of artists and technicians, the Abbey Road Institute was founded in close cooperation with Universal Music and maintains educational institutions all over the world. In the course of expanding the parent school in London, it moved to Angel Recording Studios in Islington in 2021 – with brand new, custom-made studio furniture by Zaor.
State-of-the-art education with Zaor furniture
The new educational facility at Angel Studios consists of two spacious classrooms and three production suites. In addition to Abbey Road Studios, students also have access to a fully equipped recording studio in Islington. The two classrooms have been equipped by Zaor with 48 specially designed studio desks for the students. Specially modified workstations were installed for the lecturers. The production suites were equipped with three Miza Z tables. „We have worked with Zaor in the past,“ Campus manager Mike Sinnott explains the collaboration with the furniture manufacturer, „and we have been happy with how their previous products performed. We have appreciated their friendly, personable attitude and flexible approach to developing a bespoke solution for us.”
Perfectly fitting solutions for all requirements
Due to its focus on practical work in addition to the theoretical training, Abbey Road Institute has very special requirements for an ergonomic working environment. With its many years of experience in the production of high-quality studio furniture, Zaor is the ideal partner to adequately cater to these particular needs. The 48 desks in the classrooms were optimised to take up a minimum of space, yet still offer enough room for a 27-inch monitor, an audio interface and a MIDI keyboard with 25 keys in addition to the work surface. Whether for composing, editing or other production tasks, the new Zaor desks allow all these activities to be performed right in the classroom. For maximum flexibility, the tables are also equipped with castors.
